The Aquael Ultramax 1500 is a high-capacity external canister filter designed for efficient filtration of freshwater and marine aquariums. The Ultramax 1500 features Aquael's integrated 0.6-litre prefilter, positioned inside the filter lid. This prefilter captures larger mechanical debris before it reaches the main filtration chamber, helping reduce the frequency of main-media cleaning. The prefilter can also be removed and cleaned without taking the complete filter out of the aquarium cabinet.

The filter uses a self-priming system and double ball-valve system for convenient installation and maintenance. Its ceramic impeller shaft and pump design are engineered for quiet operation, while the adjustable flow system allows the filtration output to be adapted to the aquarium.
