2HR Aquarist APT SKY is a concentrated GH booster and remineralizer designed to replenish essential minerals in RO/RODI and very soft aquarium water. Unlike conventional remineralizers that may increase KH or alter the nutrient balance of aquarium water, APT SKY is formulated to raise General Hardness (GH) while leaving NPK, KH, and pH essentially unchanged. 

APT SKY primarily supplies calcium and magnesium, two important minerals for aquatic life. It is particularly useful for planted aquariums using active aquasoil, soft-water setups, and shrimp aquariums where calcium and magnesium need to be replenished without significantly increasing KH.

It is especially suitable for Caridina and Neocaridina shrimp, as well as planted aquariums containing a combination of plants with different mineral requirements. APT SKY allows aquarists to remineralize soft or RO water while maintaining the low-KH conditions preferred by many soft-water aquatic plants and shrimp.

APT SKY is supplied as a powder, not a liquid fertilizer. It can be added directly to the aquarium or, preferably, mixed into fresh replacement water before a water change.

Mineral Boost

The manufacturer's stated dosing reference is:

3.5g / 5ml per 60 litres adds approximately:

• 12 ppm Calcium
• 3.5 ppm Magnesium
• 2.5 dGH

The standard reference dose is 10.5g / 15ml per 60 litres of RO/RODI water.

For precise dosing, the manufacturer recommends dosing according to your target GH rather than trying to achieve a particular TDS value.

How to Use

For Initial Setup

1. Start with RO/RODI or suitably soft water.
2. Test the water's GH.
3. Determine your desired GH level.
4. Calculate the required APT SKY dosage.
5. Add the powder directly to the aquarium, or preferably mix it with the fresh water being prepared for a water change.
6. Allow the minerals to dissolve and circulate.
7. Test GH to confirm the resulting water parameters.

During Water Changes

For subsequent water changes, calculate the dosage based on the volume of new water being added and its existing GH. 

The product can be added directly to the tank or mixed with replacement water before adding it to the aquarium. The manufacturer states that both approaches are acceptable. 

Important Note

• APT SKY is a GH remineralizer, not a general-purpose aquarium fertilizer.
• It is primarily intended for RO/RODI or naturally very soft water.
• APT SKY raises GH while leaving KH and pH unchanged.
• If your tap water is already moderately or highly mineralized, you may not need APT SKY.
• Do not dose based solely on TDS; GH testing is more appropriate for determining the required amount.
• For accurate and repeatable dosing, weighing the powder is preferable to relying on volume measurements. 
• APT SKY cannot be concentrated into a small stock solution for an automatic doser; it requires sufficient water volume to dissolve properly. 

APT SKY vs APT SKY PLUS

APT SKY and APT SKY PLUS are not the same product.

The manufacturer recommends APT SKY when maintaining low-KH conditions is important, while APT SKY PLUS is intended for setups where additional KH is desirable.
