The substrate sets the stage for the whole tank. With 41 options across natural sand, coloured gravel and stone chips, this is our complete bottom-layer collection — everything pre-graded and tank-safe.

Fine sand suits corydoras and sand-sifters; gravel is easiest to keep clean; coloured chips brighten kids' tanks and goldfish setups. Rinse before use and lay 2–3 inches deep. For planted tanks, use nutrient soil instead — and see scaping rocks to finish the layout.
